Marine Internship

We're looking for two marine interns to jump on board with the MTSW team for the coming summer season. As our intern, you will gain experience in a wide range of activities that will support and enable the day-to-day delivery of our school programmes and community events.

Mountains to Sea Wellington are looking for two summer Marine Interns to help us run our popular marine programme - Experiencing Marine Reserves (EMR). The EMR programme is a term-long programme teaching students about their local marine environment through class sessions, pool trainings and snorkel experiences. Our EMR programme also sees Community Snorkel events rolled out each summer offering these experiences to local community members. In your internship role you will be working alongside our Coordinators and helping to support the delivery of the EMR programme. You will be a key part of our team and the successful delivery of these events. You will receive on-the-job training, gaining valuable skills and experience working in the water and with people.

We’re a passionate and dedicated team - and we love to make change. Our mission is to inspire kaitiakitanga (guardianship) for our rivers, harbours and coasts. We work in education, with communities, delivering events - and championing great restoration and science capability. We thrive on variety, positivity, community connection, and time in the outdoors. Our keystone programmes – Experiencing Marine Reserves, the Whitebait Connection and Love Rimurimu are all focused on connecting people with the environment, and helping them to care for the places they live in.
