Seaweed Sea-lebration and Community Snorkel

Are you ready to make a splash this Summer and explore the wonders beneath the waves? Join us for a fin-tastic and free day of underwater discovery!

Join Mountains to Sea Wellington, as well as the Breaker Bay and Moa Point Progressive Association, for a day of aquatic exploration, both on land and under the waves. Explore a different side of Eve bay as we snorkel through your local seaweed forest.

Wet Weather? Join in one of the tours run by our Love Rimurimu team and learn all about sustainable seaweed harvesting for use as kai. Just make sure you've got sturdy shoes!

For all the land lubbers amongst you we have plenty of fun for the family onshore! Join our Love Rimurimu team as they educate you on seaweed species, our work, regenerating our local seaweed forests and more.

There will be a face painter onsite for your very own mermaid makeover! A local harakeke and rimurimu weaver, Kenny, will be onsite too. Plus we’ll be having plenty of ocean themed and eco friendly gifts for those last minute stocking stuffers.

There will be awesome marine themed items such as...
- Vintage style Love Rimurimu T-shirts
- Ocean Friendly Sunscreen Seasick
- Octacle (Seaweed wetsuit lube)
- The Kiwi Diary 2024
- A wide range of Ocean Organics products
- Breaker Bay Hoodies and other cool items!
- Old snorkel gear will be sold for koha
- The Seaweed Forager by Rebecca Gouldhurst

...and there will be many other items for sale!

Beginner snorkelers are encouraged (but you must be comfortable in the water).

We provide all the gear free of charge and will also buddy you up with an experienced snorkel guide to facilitate the best experience possible. Our guides will get you kitted out, answer any fishy questions you might have and generally look after you whilst you take a dive into the salt and spray.

What to bring: Togs, towel, sunhat, warm clothes, drink bottle and snacks.

Please note the minimum age for snorkelling is 8 years, and children below 16 must be accompanied by a snorkelling adult.

Last registrations at 2pm or when spaces fill up, whichever comes first. Registrations are held at the event. Follow the Facebook event to stay up to date with weather and any change of plans.
