Wai Connection, Tatai ki te Wai
We deliver the Wai Connection programme in Te Upoko-o-Te-Ika-a-Māui. This is on-the-ground freshwater education, engagement, community-led science and restoration. The project gives communities the knowledge, tools, and expert support to identify and solve water quality and habitat issues in their local catchments. Wai Connection aims to connect people with their local waterway, ‘Tatai ki te wai’, and promotes collaboration between community groups, NGOs, hapū/iwi, regional council, central government, and primary industries. We work in ways that builds community involvement, fosters equity, and works toward a shared vision of ecological sustainability as the basis of a healthy community.
